One corollary to look into on this endeavor is that sometimes rental car agencies\' fleets get out of position because of one-way rentals. Just trying to think of is a great and comfortable ride, well, only if CSX did more track maintenance since March of last year. One other possibility is finding a small motorscooter or motorcycle, if your licensed and using that to get you onboard. There might be some weird clause in the agreement about that and then should something happen to it you\'ll be caught holding the financial bag. You might even need to disclose to them about loading it on the Auto Train. Of course you\'d need to disclose to them that you do plan on driving out of state. If your going round trip, why not just return it to point of origin as the rental charge would probably be cheaper. You could definitely do the rental car thing, but if so be clear on the insurance on it. Of course, doing this with a complete stranger is no doubt weird sounding and probably way out of the question. This is how my parents were able to ride along with my wife, kids, and I when we went the last couple of years. If you know of anyone that is going or find someone that is going, you can book with them or buy your tickets as though you are in their party assuming they\'d let you do this.
